At the Jan. 10 Cypress City Council meeting, John E. Cavanaugh, the city attorney, gave a lengthy report on his legal research concerning the regulation of news racks. It was obvious from his report and the complex new ordinance he read that his report was a major undertaking of time, effort and dollars. What a waste!
Don’t we have better, more important issues to deal with? Maybe if Councilwoman Gail H. Kerry paid more attention to, say, the city’s investment policy, we wouldn’t have $5.8 million of our tax dollars in the high-risk Orange County fund, which is now bankrupt. Somebody needs to give Kerry and the other City Council members a wake-up call to get them focused on issues that are important to the people of this city.
