Felony charges were filed Wednesday against a Hollywood man accused of using a hammer to kill a homeless person’s black cat that had wandered into his home.
Marcel Iezzi, 27, faces single counts each of felony cruelty to animals and threatening a witness in connection with the feline’s Jan. 20 beating death, said Deputy Dist. Atty. David Traum.
Iezzi, who was being held in lieu of $15,000 bail, allegedly chased the cat out of his house in the 800 block of North Poinsettia Avenue and then beat it with a hammer.
Iezzi then reportedly threatened a neighbor who told him she had called the police, Traum said.
