Canada’s Jobless Claims Down 3.1%: The number of people receiving unemployment insurance in Canada fell to 843,000 in November, Statistics Canada said. The total number of people who filed new claims also fell, down 1% to 242,000, the federal statistics agency said. All figures are seasonally adjusted. The number of beneficiaries declined in every province except Prince Edward Island, where the number increased 1%. Ontario saw a 3.5% decrease in those seeking jobless benefits, and Quebec’s total fell 2.6%.
