HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL : ROUNDUP : Crescenta Valley Roars to 20 Again

The Crescenta Valley High boys’ basketball team reached the 20-victory plateau for the third consecutive season Tuesday by beating Glendale, 68-54, in a Pacific League game.
The Falcons (20-1, 5-1), The Times’ top-ranked team, got 21 points and 11 rebounds from Blake Jacobson and stayed one game behind first-place Pasadena.
Brock Jacobsen and Nathan Sinning added 15 points each. Steve Avetyan scored 14 points for Glendale (11-9, 2-4), which played even with Crescenta Valley in the second half after trailing, 34-20, at halftime.
Grant 52, Reseda 35--Ronald Patterson had nine of his 21 points in the first quarter as the Lancers (12-6, 4-1) jumped out to a 19-2 lead. Brother Donald Patterson had 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Pasadena 78, Hoover 52--The Tornadoes trailed first-place Pasadena (17-5, 6-0) by 11 points early in the fourth quarter of a Pacific League game at Hoover.
Eric Jenkins scored 15 points for Hoover (2-16, 0-6). Derek Hodges scored 23 points and Gordon Scott added 21 for Pasadena.
Village Christian 57, L.A. Baptist 49--Chad Hanson scored seven of his 20 points in the third quarter as the Crusaders outscored L.A. Baptist, 24-16, to take the lead in an Alpha League game at L.A. Baptist.
David Gustafson added 12 points and nine rebounds for Village Christian (11-6, 4-0). Matt Aust scored 19 points for L.A. Baptist (12-6, 4-1).
Burbank 58, Canyon 55--Carlos Baker scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half in a Foothill League game at Burbank. Matt Baker added 14 for the Bulldogs (11-7, 5-1).
Greg Minor scored 35 points--including six three-point baskets--for Canyon (10-10, 3-4).
Highland 91, Quartz Hill 57--The Bulldogs (13-5, 3-2) got 31 points from Jamal Dedeaux and 21 points, 10 assists and five steals from Carl Biel in a Golden League game. Aaron Brown had 26 points for Quartz Hill.
Montclair Prep 88, Hesperia Christian 49--Reed Berglund had 20 points and eight assists and Anwan Jones had 20 points and 20 rebounds as the Mounties (19-3) recorded their 11th consecutive victory.
GIRLS
Crescenta Valley 71, Glendale 56--Michelle Greco had 22 points, 13 rebounds, nine steals and seven assists to lead the Falcons (18-5, 5-1) in a Pacific League game.
Sylmar 61, Monroe 48--Nadra Manley had 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Spartans (9-1, 2-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game. Anna Marquez had 12 points for Monroe (8-3, 1-1).
Burroughs 56, Saugus 24--Suzy Babko had 20 points, 10 steals and eight rebounds and Joyce Lau broke the single-season steal record for Burroughs in a Foothill League game.
Lau had 17 points and six steals for Burroughs (11-9, 6-1). She has 92 steals this season, breaking the school record of 86.
Westlake 54, Royal 52--Katie Spayde scored 14 of her 28 points in the second quarter to help the Warriors (8-13, 5-4) recover from a 14-2 deficit in a Marmonte League game.
Buena 76, Oxnard 42--Eboni Conley had 20 points and eight steals in a Channel League game at Oxnard. Kara Newman added 18 points and 10 steals for Buena (12-2, 7-0).
Canyon 49, Burbank 44--Tanya McLaughlin scored 15 of her 17 points in the first half in a Foothill League game at Canyon. Laura Tweedy added 11 points for Canyon (7-13, 2-5).
Thousand Oaks 54, Channel Islands 42--Jen Detmer and Nicole LaSala each had 15 points for the Lancers (13-8, 6-3) in a Marmonte League game.
Palmdale 74, Highland 37--Edneisha Curry had 20 points for Palmdale (15-3, 5-0) in a Golden League game. Monique Nolan added 18 points and 15 rebounds and Kristi Rose had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Village Christian 78, L.A. Baptist 24--Lindy James scored 16 points and had six assists for the Crusaders in an Alpha League game at Village Christian.
