CAMARILLO : Council May Simplify Watering Restrictions
- Share via
In an attempt to standardize rules that determine when residents can water their lawns, the Camarillo City Council tonight will consider amending city regulations to simplify the allowable watering times.
Currently, the city prohibits the watering of lawns between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. during standard time and 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. during daylight-saving time, said John Elwell, the city’s director of community services.
Elwell said that due to a number of requests by residents, his department is recommending that the council amend the restrictions to be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. year-round.
The watering restrictions were first put into effect in April, 1990, in response to severe drought conditions. City officials have maintained the restrictions to conserve water.
The council will consider the item at its meeting at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 601 Carmen Drive.
