A promotion campaign being conducted by a laser printer manufacturer may give a major boost to Cadman Corp., a Thousand Oaks software company.
The printer firm, Dataproducts Corp., based in Woodland Hills, is offering a free copy of a Cadman software system called ViewPort+ to every purchaser of Typhoon 20, a Dataproducts printer.
Dataproducts expects to buy and give away thousands of Cadman’s ViewPort+ units, which allow users to view large documents such as engineering drawings on computer screens. Typhoon 20 is designed to print such documents at high speeds.
The software units, which have a suggested retail price of $795, will be part of a worldwide promotion, according to Bryan Eggers, Dataproducts’ marketing chief.
Dataproducts is owned by Hitachi, the Japanese electronics giant. Typhoon 20’s list price, incidentally, is $5,095.
