Day Runner Inc.: The Fullerton maker of personal organizers reported profit of $3.5 million, or 55 cents a share, for its second fiscal quarter, which ended Dec. 31. That compared to earnings of $3.2 million, or 53 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales rose 14.3% to $36.9 million from $32.3 million. For the first six months of its fiscal year, the company’s earnings increased to $5.5 million, or 85 cents a share, from $4.6 million, or 75 cents per share, for the same period a year earlier. Six-month revenue was up 26.7% to $68.2 million from $53.9 million.
