2 Small Aftershocks Rattle Big Bear Area

BIG BEAR LAKE — Two small aftershocks of the 1992 Landers earthquake rumbled beneath this mountain resort town Sunday, but the tremors weren’t strong enough to cause any damage or injuries.
A 3.2-magnitude quake hit at 8:11 a.m., followed by a 2.7-magnitude tremor at 8:28 a.m., said seismologist Will Huston of the Caltech in Pasadena. Both were centered six miles northeast of Big Bear Lake, Huston said.
There have been some 53,000 aftershocks to the 7.6-magnitude Landers quake that struck on June 28, 1992.
