Medicine by Remote: GTE Corp. will sponsor a telemedicine demonstration at its technology center in Westlake Village today from noon to 2 p.m. Doctors from nine sites in four countries will confer in a simultaneous exchange of voice, images and data designed to show how telecommunications technology can be used to deliver quality health care over long distances. Using telemedicine equipment--including an ear, nose and throat “videoscope”--a doctor in the Dominican Republic will transmit images of a patient to physicians in Quebec and Caracas, Venezuela, and get their opinions. The GTE Technology Solutions Center is at 2801 Townsgate Road.
