The Big Clock (AMC Monday at noon), a taut, witty 1948 thriller, involves an innocent man (Ray Milland) trying to avoid becoming a prime suspect in a murder while pursuing the actual killer.
Dead Alive (HBO Thursday at 3:10 a.m.): Before making this year’s acclaimed “Heavenly Creatures,” New Zealand’s Peter Jackson made the funniest yet goriest horror picture imaginable, a zombie thriller. Absolutely not for the squeamish or small children.
Leningrad Cowboys Go America (Bravo Thursday 10:30 a.m., again at 3:25 p.m.), Finnish filmmaker Aki Kaurismaki’s 1989 whimsical road movie, combines concert film and travelogue as we follow a Finnish band forsaking polkas for rock ‘n’ roll while touring the seedy side of the South.
Black Rainbow (Showtime Saturday at 1:35 a.m.) is Mike Hodges’ 1989 psychic thriller with sociological undertones. Rosanna Arquette, never better, is a commanding presence as a young medium who develops terrifying powers of prophecy. With Tom Hulce and Jason Robards.
