It was not an impressive performance by the Los Angeles City College basketball team, but it was enough for them to maintain their No. 1 ranking in California.
Behind Derek Brown’s 32 points and six rebounds, LACC defeated Compton, 91-74, in a Southern California Conference game Wednesday at Compton.
“We played a horrible game (despite winning by 17 points),” Los Angeles City Coach Mike Miller said.
“We played four excellent games before this one, so let’s get it out of our system.”
Cub forward Terrance Askew played his best game of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The Tartars were led by guard Marquis Flemmons, who scored a game-high 25 points including four three-pointers.
