Troy 61, Buena Park 36--Jeff Sand and Chris Green each had 14 points for for Troy (12-8, 3-1).
La Habra 59, Sunny Hills 48--Dan Ploog had 19 points and 10 rebounds for visiting La Habra (8-11, 1-3).
In the Garden Grove League:
Pacifica 66, La Quinta 65 (OT)--The Mariners scored five points in three seconds in the overtime period, then survived Jason Gondringer’s half-court shot at the buzzer.
The victory puts the Mariners (10-8, 4-1) in first place in the Garden Grove League. La Quinta (10-9, 4-2) appeared to have that spot locked up with 37 seconds left. But Jimmy Nguyen missed the front end of a one-and-one situation. Pacifica’s Jaimi Bessho drove for a layup and was fouled with 31 seconds left.
Ryan Caraveo stole the inbound pass and scored with 28 seconds left to give the Mariners a 66-65 lead.
La Quinta missed two shots on its next possession. The Aztecs got one more chance after Pacifica’s Kyle Seasock missed the front end of a one-and-one, but Gondringer’s shot bounced off the rim.
The Mariners (10-8, 4-1) appeared to give the game away, going 7 minutes 24 seconds without scoring in the fourth quarter and overtime. They also squandered a 61-52 lead. La Quinta scored five points in 10 seconds to tie the score, 61-61. Gondringer hit a three-pointer with 28 seconds left and Ronnie Johnson then stole the inbound pass and scored with 18 seconds.
La Quinta had a chance to win at the end of regulation, but Gondringer missed an off-balanced shot.
Gondringer scored 18 points. Johnson and Greg Greenfield each scored 16 for La Quinta.
Caraveo scored 18 and Bessho 15 for Pacifica.
