SEAL BEACH
Leisure World Is Drying Out
Seal Beach’s Leisure World is slowly getting back to normal after suffering $3 million in damage from a rainstorm earlier this month.
The rain caused the retirement community’s main road to flood, sending water into more than 100 homes.
The floods displaced about 200 elderly residents.
The Red Cross established a shelter in the community for residents who were left homeless by the storms.
Officials said many residents don’t have flood insurance. But the victims hope to receive assistance from the state and federal government so that they can repair their damaged homes.
