SAN PEDRO : Top Fund-Raiser to Win Honorary Mayor Title
- Share via
The race for honorary mayor is on.
San Pedro, which is part of the city of Los Angeles, has no official mayor, but every two years the San Pedro Peninsula Chamber of Commerce sponsors a contest to elect the honorary leader of the community.
Candidates must be sponsored by a nonprofit organization in town, and the candidate who raises the most money for the sponsoring organization--with the group’s help--is chosen mayor.
The contest runs from Feb. 13 to March 31, and the winner, who serves a two-year term, will be announced at a banquet in April.
Applications are available at the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, 390 W. 7th St. For more information, call (310) 832-7272.
