STANTON — Police asked for help Tuesday in reaching the family of a 30-year-old transient found beaten to death outside a Beach Boulevard movie theater over the weekend.
Miron Zenon Saavedra, found bludgeoned to death just after midnight Sunday in the 11300 block of Beach Boulevard, was identified by Orange County sheriff’s deputies through the CAL-ID fingerprint identification system.
Several hours after Saavedra’s body was found, deputies assigned to Stanton Police Services were called to an intersection about a block away, where a man was seen running from a vehicle that had struck a pole.
After searching the area, they found Loreto Gutierrez Romero, 31, lying on the ground near the theater parking lot.
Romero, who had facial cuts, was arrested on suspicion of murder. The Anaheim man is being held on $250,000 bail in Orange County Jail.
Anyone with information regarding Saavedra’s family is asked to contact homicide investigators Chris Murray at (714) 647-7748 or Leo Vando at (714) 647-7046.
