Mission Energy Joins India Power Plant Partnership : Construction: Pact with Tata Group involves $400-million facility in Jamshedpur. Firm in discussions on project in Indonesia.

IRVINE — Mission Energy Co. said Monday it has signed an agreement with Tata Group, India’s largest private-sector group of companies, to become a joint-venture partner in construction of a $400-million power plant.
The agreement between Tata and Mission, a subsidiary of SCE Corp., is for the 300-megawatt, coal-fired Jojobera Power Station in Jamshedpur, India.
The first unit of the station is already under construction. The power plant is being built to supply electricity to Tata Iron and Steel Co., India’s largest.
Mission officials said the company’s participation in the project should lead to orders for more than $100 million in goods and services from the United States.
A company spokesman said Mission is also negotiating for a contract for construction of a major power plant in Indonesia.
Mission Energy, based in Irvine, specializes in the development, acquisition, construction, management and operation of independent power production facilities.
The company has investment interests in 42 projects in operation or under construction or in planning stages in the United States, Europe and Asia.
