LOS ALAMITOS : 3 Are Reappointed to Planning Panel
- Share via
The City Council last week reappointed three incumbents to the Planning Commission, each to serve a two-year term.
Jack McDonnell, Gary Nehrenberg and Benjamin Sutherlin rejoin the seven-member panel, which tackles land-use and zoning issues and is considered one of the most important of the city’s agencies.
Council members usually begin their political careers as planning commissioners.
The Planning Commission meets the first and third Mondays of each month. Unlike other cities, Los Alamitos does not pay planning commissioners for attending meetings.
On Monday, the council also appointed Councilwoman Alice Jempsa to the Orange County Regional Airport Authority, the panel pushing for a commercial airport at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. Councilwoman Marilynn M. Poe was named an alternate.
Mayor Charles E. Sylvia will represent the city in the county Sanitation District. Councilman Robert P. Wahlstrom is the alternate.
The council also set a joint study session with the Traffic Commission on Jan. 30 to consider whether the traffic panel should be dissolved or merged with another city commission.
