HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Cooper’s 33 Points Help Swamp Channel Islands

Junior forward Tawnee Cooper continued her hot scoring with a 33-point outburst, leading Simi Valley High to a 61-46 girls’ basketball victory over Channel Islands in a Marmonte League game on Saturday night at Royal High.
In her last four games, Cooper has 134 points for the Pioneers (15-3, 5-1 in league play).
Judy Tuimoloau had 15 points for Channel Islands (9-9, 3-3).
Notre Dame 48, Flintridge Sacred Heart 28--The Knights routed Flintridge Sacred Heart in a Mission League game.
Trailing, 8-7, Notre Dame (12-4, 3-0) forced nine turnovers to fuel an 18-8 run in the second quarter. Carla Arrue had seven of her 12 points in the second quarter.
Maggie Dixon had 10 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, four assists and four blocked shots for the Knights.
Cornerstone Christian 57, Cate 31--Karen Breshears had 15 points, 14 rebounds and seven steals in Cornerstone Christian’s Condor League victory.
Julia Tamai scored 15 points and Julie Siefert added 13 for Cornerstone Christian (9-3, 2-0).
Buena 77, Dos Pueblos 24--Kori Sebek had 18 points for the Bulldogs in a Channel League victory.
Eboni Conley added 14 points and seven assists, and Nicole Greathouse added 11 points and 12 rebounds for Buena (8-2, 4-0).
Buckley 43, Yeshiva 27--Pansy Tolou had 12 points, 7 rebounds and five assists for Buckley in a Liberty League game.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Campbell Hall 65, Faith Baptist 38--Helemanu Wallace and Demetrius Ingram each scored 13 points, and Eric Rasmussen added eight points and 12 rebounds for the Vikings (7-9, 2-1) in a Delphic League game at Campbell Hall.
Emmanuel Evans had 17 points for Faith Baptist (6-7, 0-3).
Cornerstone Christian 74, West Valley Christian 49--Eric Olson scored 24 points for the Eagles (13-3) in a nonleague game.
Shane Campbell and Jason Best each added 11 points for Cornerstone, which is ranked eighth in Southern Section Division V.
Hart 64, Burroughs 40--Mike Posey had 17 points, eight assists and five rebounds for Hart (9-9, 2-2), which sank 20 of 25 free throws in a Foothill League game.
L.A. Baptist 75, Maranatha 42--Russ Brumpton had 31 points for the Knights while playing only three quarters of the Alpha League rout.
Arman Caprelian added 12 points and 13 rebounds for L.A. Baptist (10-5, 2-0).
BOYS’ SOCCER
Burroughs 3, Hart 2--Jesus Diaz scored his second goal of the match in the 71st minute, breaking a tie and helping the Indians (9-3-2, 3-0) to a Foothill League victory at Hart.
Hart (4-9-1, 1-3) led, 2-0, after first-half goals by Uriel Castaneda and Leion Chin, but Burroughs came back on Diaz’s goal in the 60th minute, another by Claudio Navarette in the 66th and Diaz’s second goal.
Diaz, a senior midfielder, has 12 goals in nine matches. Goalkeeper Alfredo Almaguer had five saves for Burroughs.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Saugus 6, Burbank 0--Kelly Goeres scored three goals and Heather Halstead had two for the Centurions (5-6-2, 1-1) in a Foothill League match at Burbank.
