10 Apply for Post of Interim Chancellor

With the application period closing today in the selection process for an interim chancellor of the Ventura County Community College District, 10 administrators from around California have submitted resumes, officials said.
No one now employed by the three-campus district had submitted an application for the post, which will probably last through the remainder of this year, district officials said Thursday.
Faculty and other employee groups had asked trustees to limit their search for an interim chancellor to current district employees.
After the Nov. 27 death of Chancellor Thomas G. Lakin, the governing board named Moorpark College President James Walker interim chancellor.
Since then, Walker has been splitting his time between his college and the district office.
A subcommittee of two governing board members--Trustees Pete E. Tafoya and John D. Tallman--will review the applications over the next few weeks and decide which administrators will be interviewed by the board.
The finalists will be interviewed by the full five-member panel at the Feb. 7 meeting of the governing board, President Timothy D. Hirschberg said.
The board probably will make a selection after a closed-session meeting among trustees after the interviews, he said.
Applications will be accepted at the district office until 4:30 p.m. today.
