ROUNDUP : Harvard-Westlake Wins Behind Collins Twins

The Harvard-Westlake High boys’ basketball team improved to 16-1 and 4-0 in Mission League play with a 76-61 victory over host Loyola on Wednesday night.

As usual, the Wolverines were paced by twins Jarron (19 points, eight rebounds) and Jason Collins (17 points, 15 rebounds).

Point guard Ben Robbins added 13 points and seven assists, and Alex Gelbard scored 15 points off the bench.

Notre Dame 52, Chaminade 35--Notre Dame (11-5, 2-1) held host Chaminade (10-4, 2-2) to a season-low point total en route to a Mission League victory.

Tommy Zapata led Notre Dame with 15 points and Colin Plume scored 14. Mike Yang led Chaminade with nine points.

Alemany 68, Crespi 66--Adrian Pantoja’s inside basket and foul shot with three seconds to play lifted visiting Alemany (8-9, 2-2) in the Mission League game. Pantoja led the Indians with 19 points.

Mike Jacques scored 22 points for Crespi (7-8, 0-3).

Camarillo 85, Royal 83--A baseline jump shot by Nathan Kaup with six seconds to play in the second overtime lifted host Camarillo (4-8, 1-3) in a Marmonte League game.

Josh Hill had 23 points and 11 rebounds and Matt Harbour added 15 points and seven assists for Camarillo. Eric Carlsen scored 19 points for Royal (9-5, 2-2).

Agoura 76, Newbury Park 59--Senior center Ben Richardson scored 18 points on 12 of 14 shooting and Jon Sears added 18 points to pace host Agoura (9-5, 5-0) in a Marmonte League game. Richardson and Sears each had seven rebounds.

Simi Valley 79, Channel Islands 75--Anthony Tauriello had 13 points and 11 assists to lead host Simi Valley (13-2, 3-2) in a Marmonte League game.

Channel Islands (6-8, 0-5) could not overcome a 16-point third-quarter deficit.

Bell-Jeff 67, Cathedral 66--Ruben Douglas’ steal and subsequent free throws with less than a minute remaining were the difference for host Bell-Jeff (9-7, 3-1) in a Santa Fe League game. Douglas, a freshman guard, scored 11 points.

St. Genevieve 68, La Salle 64--Mike Padilla scored 22 points to lead visiting St. Genevieve (6-7, 3-1) in a Santa Fe League game. Dennis Akuin added 12 points and eight rebounds.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Hart 92, Burbank 16--Hart caused 40 turnovers and set a school record for offensive output in a Foothill League game at Hart.

LaCresha Clark came close to a triple-double with 18 points, nine assists and nine steals for Hart (12-4, 3-0).

Notre Dame 61, Harvard-Westlake 37--Junior Stacey Phillips scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the host Knights (11-4, 2-0) in a Mission League game.

L.A. Baptist 52, Western Christian 47--Sophomore center Deanna Bergeson scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the host Knights (6-6, 1-0) in an Alpha League game.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Palmdale 4, Littlerock 0: Sophomore forward Henry Flores scored twice in the first 30 minutes for Palmdale (12-4-1, 1-1). Murad Dibbini and Geoff Carlson also scored.
