Allman at the Palace

I went to hear Gregg Allman at the Palace on Dec. 30, in spite of the terrible review Dec. 29 in Calendar (“Allman’s Too Laid-Back at Coach House”). I would like Times readers to know that at the Palace show Allman and his band were in fine form, full of energy and enthusiasm. Allman’s vocals were as powerful and soulful as I’ve heard him, and his organ work shone throughout the evening. Especially impressive was 15-year-old Derek Trucks, whose dynamite playing had everyone in the audience and on stage grinning and shaking their heads in amazement.
