First Round at La Costa Victim of Rain, Wind

Heavy rains flooded fairways and high winds felled several trees at La Costa, forcing postponement Thursday of the opening round of the $1-million Mercedes Championships golf tournament.
Weather permitting, players in the PGA’s season-opening event at Carlsbad, formerly called the Tourament of Champions, will play 36 holes today, then 18 holes Saturday and Sunday.
