PREP ROUNDUP : Shaw Sparks Garden Grove in League Opener

Janine Shaw scored 19 points, including two three-point baskets, as the Garden Grove girls’ basketball team opened league play with a 52-26 victory over Bolsa Grande Wednesday at Bolsa Grande.
Emily Patterson added 11 points for the Argonauts (5-6, 1-0). Keisha Love led Bolsa Grande (2-11, 0-1) with 10 points.
In other Garden Grove League games:
Los Amigos 49, La Quinta 18--Carmela Zavala scored a game-high 16 points and had 11 rebounds for the Lobos (4-6, 1-0). Teammate Bertha Robles added nine rebounds and Thao Le had five points and five assists.
Pacifica 57, Rancho Alamitos 37--Holly Pawlowski led Pacifica (3-10, 1-0) in the league opener with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Amy Rummel added 10 points and eight rebounds.
In nonleague girls’ basketball:
Century 59, Saddleback 38--Nina Alexander had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Addie Alexander added nine points to lead host Century (9-4). Nicole Wiora had a game-high 25 points for Saddleback (4-7).
In Freeway League wrestling:
Sunny Hills 42, Troy 27--Junior Mike Chay, who is ranked second in the county at 112 pounds, pinned Troy’s Daniel Rechnitzer in 1 minute 8 seconds. Sophomore Erik Lindholm also recorded a pin for ninth-ranked Sunny Hills (8-4, 1-0), beating Derrik Mittenzwei in 3:42.
In Golden West League wrestling:
Santa Ana 55, Tustin 6--Except for the 112-pound match and a double forfeit at 130, No. 2 ranked Santa Ana (23-1, 1-0) won every match--including five technical falls--in its league opener.
