Jon (K) Engebretsen, a 20-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has been promoted to head the Temple station.
Capt. Engebretsen will oversee 250 employees who provide law enforcement services in the cities of Bradbury, Duarte, Rosemead, South El Monte, Temple City and the surrounding unincorporated areas.
Previously, Engebretsen worked as a lieutenant in the department’s Substance Abuse Narcotics Education unit, in the Marina del Rey station, in the recruit training bureau and in the office of the assistant sheriff.
He has a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Cal State Long Beach. A resident of Ontario, Engebretsen and his wife, Louise, have a son in college and a daughter in high school.
He succeeds Capt. Bob Mirabella, who has been transferred to the contract law bureau, which oversees the law enforcement contracts between the Sheriff’s Department and individual cities.
