Trustee to Head Governing Board of Training Program

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Capistrano Unified School District Trustee Peter J. Espinosa has been elected president of the governing board of the Capistrano-Laguna Beach Regional Occupational Program for the coming year.
Espinosa, a counselor at Saddleback College, is the first Latino board president for the South County ROP branch. He has been on the board for two years.
The branch provides technical training skills for adults and high school students from the Capistrano and Laguna Beach unified school districts.
Espinosa said his first priority as president of the board will be to free up about $100,000 in federal grants for technical training currently frozen in the county’s beleaguered investment fund.
