Residents have until the Friday after the anniversary of the Jan. 17 quake to register for disaster assistance.
“We want to remind everyone that Jan. 20 . . . is the final day for Northridge earthquake disaster assistance,” Frank Kishton, a federal coordinating officer, said Tuesday.
Residents may register for assistance under the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Disaster Housing Assistance Program, the state-administered Individual and Family Grant Program and the Small Business Administration’s disaster loan programs for homeowners, renters and business owners.
Residents may register at any Earthquake Service Center or by calling (800) 462-9029 or the TDD number, (800) 462-7585. Applicants with questions may call the Disaster Help Line at (800) 525-0321 or the TDD line, (800) 660-8005.
More than 669,500 people had registered for assistance as of Dec. 23. FEMA has disbursed $1.14 billion in grants to individuals for emergency home repairs and mortgage and rental assistance.
