Danny O’Neil’s record-setting day in the Rose Bowl--completing 41 of 61 passes for 456 yards--wasn’t part of the strategy, Coach Rich Brooks said.

“We didn’t plan to throw as much as we did, but one reason we kept throwing was because Danny was so accurate,” Brooks said. “We were moving the ball--that wasn’t the problem. The problem was not scoring when we got into scoring territory.”
