Cherokee Parks scored 20 points to lead six players in double figures as 11th-ranked Duke routed South Carolina State, 107-61, Monday night at Durham, N.C.
Parks, from Huntington Beach, grabbed eight rebounds as Duke (9-2) ran its nonconference home winning streak to 94 games, dating from a 91-76 loss to Louisville on Jan. 12, 1983. The Blue Devils played their last home non-Atlantic Coast Conference game this season, although they still have a nonconference road game at UCLA Feb. 26.
South Carolina State (2-7), on the road for the seventh time in nine games, moved forward Derrick Patterson to point guard in an attempt to ease their backcourt problems. The 6-foot-6 transfer from Georgetown helped the Bulldogs stay close by scoring 11 points in the first 9 1/2 minutes.
