PREP ROUNDUP : Connelly Wins Title in Tennis

Connelly, behind Ali Cook’s sweep, clinched its second consecutive Olympic League girls’ tennis title Wednesday, defeating host Brethren Christian, 13-5.
Cook won, 7-6, 6-4, 6-1. Connelly improved to 13-6, 9-0; Brethren Christian is 8-3, 6-3.
In nonleague girls’ tennis:
Palos Verdes Peninsula 15, Corona del Mar 3--Nina Vaughan won two of her three singles sets for the third-ranked Sea Kings (13-4, 9-0), who lost to the top-ranked team in Southern Section Division I.
Rosary 10, Esperanza 8--The doubles team of Colleen Coady and Elenor Luzano swept, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, as the ninth-ranked Royals (13-3, 8-0) tuned up for their Golden West League matchup today against Saddleback (9-1, 7-1).
In Golden West League volleyball:
Ocean View 3, Saddleback 0--Beth Henshaw had 17 kills for host Ocean View (11-0, 7-0), which won, 15-7, 15-10, 15-6. Saddleback is 4-9, 2-5.
Westminster 3, Rosary 1--Johanna Haggerty led the Lions (4-7, 3-5) with 14 kills and Kari Bernhardt added 10 kills and seven aces in Westminster’s 15-12, 15-12, 15-17, 15-9 victory.
