Buena Park 15, Troy 10--Gregg Petrisevac scored five goals and John Humbert had 17 saves for host Buena Park (14-12, 4-0), which remains tied with La Habra for first. The teams meet next Wednesday.
Foothill 17, Canyon 8--Brian Brown had eight goals and Jeff Pflueger added four for visiting Foothill (16-3, 4-0), which is ranked third in the county.
El Modena 16, Orange 5--Steve Taylor scored six goals and Ricardo Brambila added five for the host Vanguards (6-6, 2-2).
Villa Park 21, Santa Ana Valley 2--Brian Pharris and Kyle Baumgarner each scored four goals for seventh-ranked Villa Park (18-6, 4-0).
In the Empire League:
Cypress 25, Loara 14--The Centurions (13-10, 3-1) were led by David Watkins, Mark Slevcove and Erik Sandvig, who combined for 16 goals in the victory.
Katella 25, Century 8--Phil Wirthgen led the Knights (16-8, 3-1) to a victory that guaranteed them a playoff spot for the first time since 1978. The Knights, playing under second-year Coach Grafton Weiss, will play Cypress (13-10, 3-1) next Wednesday for second place.
In the Freeway League:
Sonora 11, Fullerton 10--Andy Wyse scored four goals, including the game-winner, for visiting Sonora (13-7, 1-3). Tim Stanton had 11 saves for the Raiders.
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 21, Irvine 5--Neil Hueston had seven goals and two assists and James Palda added a goal and six steals for top-ranked Corona del Mar (14-4, 5-0).
Newport Harbor 12, Santa Margarita 5--Gabe Wyatt scored three goals for ninth-ranked Newport Harbor. Scott Stickler, Andy Betz and Chris Richardson each had two goals for the Sailors.
In nonleague:
Costa Mesa 10, Brea Olinda 9--Sean Hylton scored three goals, including his last-minute game-winning score, for eighth-ranked Costa Mesa (18-5, 3-0). Goalie Justin Taylor had nine saves for the Mustangs.
