Padgett, from Canyon High, established himself as one of the state’s top wrestlers last season after sitting out a year after high school. Last year, Padgett became the first to pin all his opponents in the State tournament. He finished with a 32-3 record. This season, Padgett has only added to his fame. He has dominated from the start, going 17-0 with 15 pins. In addition, he scored the only pin in the North/South All-State wrestling match Saturday in Fresno, which was won by the North, 19-15.
Cross-Country
Ryan Tajbakhsh: Orange Coast, freshman. He won the Inner City Invitational four-mile race at Griffith Park.
Football
Damien Cook: Golden West, freshman. Cook had 207 yards in total offense and scored three touchdowns as the Rustlers beat Southwestern, 49-10.
