SAN FRANCISCO — Law enforcement officials are searching for a grave on the shore of Lake Michigan that might hold the body of Kevin Collins, who was 10 years old when he disappeared from a San Francisco bus stop in 1984, police said.
The anonymous call that touched off the search in Saugatuck, Mich., came from a man who claimed to be a priest, said the victim’s father, David Collins. The caller said he took a deathbed confession from a San Quentin inmate who professed to have killed a boy named Kevin Collins in the early 1980s and buried him in Michigan.
The caller then described an area that police narrowed down to Saugatuck, a popular vacation spot on the lake.
