Dole Food to Take Full Control of Castle & Cooke: The company said it will pay about $81 million, or $15.75 a share in cash, for the 17.2% of Castle & Cooke Homes it does not already own. Westlake Village-based Dole Food Co. said the deal has won unanimous approval from a Castle & Cooke committee that was appointed in August to study Dole’s original offer of $14 a share. Castle & Cooke Homes, which has home-building operations in Hawaii, California and Arizona, was a wholly owned Dole subsidiary until late 1992.
