LANCASTER — A motorcycle slammed into a truck at a Lancaster intersection Sunday night, killing the rider and seriously injuring his passenger.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the motorcyclist Monday as James Marsh, 32, of Sunland.
Sheriff’s traffic investigators said the collision occurred at 9:25 p.m. when Marsh failed to stop for a stop sign while riding south on 50th Street East. His motorcycle struck the side of an eastbound semi-trailer truck that had just entered the intersection at Avenue K, investigators said.
Marsh was killed instantly, deputies said. His passenger, Angel Janes, 29, of Tujunga, was taken to Lancaster Community Hospital with serious internal injuries. She was reported in stable condition Monday.
The driver of the truck, Mark Smith, 36, of Lancaster, was not injured and was not cited, deputies said.
