SIMI VALLEY : Supervisor Hopefuls to Face Off in Debates

Candidates for two open seats on the Ventura County Board of Supervisors will participate in public debates today and Wednesday in Simi Valley.
Simi Valley Councilwoman Judy Mikels and Moorpark Councilman Scott Montgomery will take part in a question-and-answer forum tonight at 7 p.m. at the Pacific Beverage Co., 51 W. Easy St.
The forum is sponsored by the Simi Valley Republican Women’s Club Federated.
The two candidates are competing for the seat being vacated by Supervisor Vicky Howard, whose 4th Supervisorial District includes Simi Valley, Moorpark and the Santa Rosa Valley.
Mikels and Montgomery will also join candidates vying for the 2nd Supervisorial District seat in a debate scheduled Wednesday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, 40 Presidential Drive.
The forum at 7 p.m. is sponsored by the Ventura County chapter of the League of Women Voters.
Thousand Oaks Councilman Frank Schillo and attorney Trudi Loh are competing for the seat being vacated by Supervisor Maria VanderKolk.
VanderKolk’s 2nd Supervisorial District includes most of the Conejo Valley and Port Hueneme.
