A Los Angeles company, Commonwealth Associates Inc., has acquired Westlake Village-based KCD Inc., maker of an over-the-counter body fat reducer, in an exchange of stock valued at $20 million.
Commonwealth will change its name to KCD Holdings Inc. and will relocate to Westlake Village, according to Clark M. Holcomb, Commonwealth’s president.
KCD Inc. produces SeQuester, which it claims can contribute to a gradual loss of body fat and weight. Some side effects may occur, Holcomb noted.
In the five months since it was introduced, SeQuester has been placed in thousands of drugstores and other outlets nationwide, Holcomb said. He said a major marketing campaign will be launched soon.
