Linking of Utility Executives’ Pay to Minority Advances Urged: At an annual review of utility efforts to increase hiring and outside contracts with women and minorities, Robert L. Gnaizda, general counsel to the Greenlining Coalition of minority and consumer organizations, Friday called for linking utilities’ CEO salaries and bonuses to improvements in these areas. “Progress is stalling and, in some areas, backsliding,” Gnaizda said at a hearing in Los Angeles of the Assembly Committee on Utilities and Commerce, chaired by Assemblywoman Gwen Moore (D-L.A.). In one part of the coalition’s “Report Card,” the group rated progress in giving out contracts to minorities as: Southern California Edison B-plus, Pacific Bell B, AT&T; C, PG&E; C, Southern California Gas C, GTE C.
