Davis (237 Yards) Paces Ventura

VENTURA — Aaron Davis rushed for 237 yards and four touchdowns in 11 carries to lead Ventura High to a 48-25 victory over Rio Mesa in a Channel League game Friday night.
Davis’ second score, a 27-yard run late in the first quarter, reclaimed the lead for the Cougars, (2-5, 2-2) who didn’t trail again.
Davis then broke an 85-yard run up the middle to give the Cougars a 22-7 lead and Ventura was on its way.
The Spartans (1-6, 0-4) were led by quarterback Farhaad Azimi, who completed 10 of 20 passes for 140 yards with one interception. Azimi also rushed for 29 yards, including a five-yard touchdown run, and added a 28-yard field goal.
Ventura quarterback Erik Olson was five of seven for 94 yards and rushed for 58 yards in seven carries, including a two-yard touchdown run.
