BEIRUT — Four Palestinian men were sentenced to life in prison Wednesday for the assassination of a Jordanian diplomat whose slaying jolted a nation recovering from civil war.
The four were identified by the military court as followers of Abu Nidal, the world’s most wanted mastermind of terror attacks. His group has denied involvement. Only one of the four, Youssef Shaaban, 29, was in custody. The three others were convicted in absentia.
Naeb Imran Maaytah, 42, the first secretary at the Jordanian Embassy, was shot to death Jan. 29 in his car while driving away from his house.
