Intel to Increase Manufacturing Capacity: The chip maker is expected to announce today a doubling of the manufacturing capacity at its Santa Clara semiconductor factory. The facility’s “clean room,” where Intel Corp.’s Pentium microprocessors are manufactured, now has 35,000 square feet. The plant, which is also a research and development center, employs 700 people. Improvements in the California business climate spurred Intel to make the investment, a spokesman said.
