School board candidates in the Tustin Unified School District will appear at a forum tonight sponsored by the Foothill Communities Assn.
The 7 p.m. forum will be at Hewes Middle School, 13232 Hewes Ave., between Dodge and Fairhaven avenues.
It will be moderated by the League of Women Voters.
The Tustin branch of the American Assn. of University Women will sponsor another candidate forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26 at the City Council chambers.
Six candidates are seeking two four-year terms on the board: incumbents Jane Bauer, Nancy Cast and Gloria Matta Tuchman and challengers Jonathan W. Abelove, Nimesh Desai and Robert L. Douglas.
One two-year term is at stake in the Nov. 8 election.
The candidates are Gail Michelsen, Robert D. Machado, Jon H. Soeder, David Lampert and Malcolm D. Jones.
The five-member school board governs the Tustin Unified School District, which serves about 12,000 students from Tustin and portions of Santa Ana, the North Tustin foothills area, the Tustin Marine Corps Helicopter Air Station and Irvine.
