HACIENDA HEIGHTS : Detectives Seek Suspect in Break-Ins, Assaults
- Share via
Sheriff’s detectives are asking for help in finding the person who since May has broken into a dozen homes and raped or tried to rape two women in the Hacienda Heights area.
The crimes, often committed between 5 and 7:30 a.m., have been carried out under similar circumstances. But detectives are not sure whether the same person committed them, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Benita Hinojos.
“The suspect parks a few houses from the victim’s (house) and usually enters through a window after removing a screen,” Hinojos said. “He has, on occasion, acted as a jogger . . . and was also armed with a knife on at least one occasion.”
Detectives said the suspect drives a red, compact car with a damaged left-rear fender.
