A 24-year-old woman who had been reported kidnaped denied Sunday that she was taken against her will.
Cynthia Jane Melson said in an interview that she had contacted police and notified them several times that she was fine, despite a previous report to police that she had been kidnaped.
“I was never kidnaped. I’m fine and I told the police that,” Melson said. “This is more like they have a vendetta against my boyfriend.”
Garden Grove police reported Saturday and Sunday that Melson had been abducted from her home by boyfriend Joseph Ray McBath.
Melson’s family told police in an emergency call that the window of her Monroe Street apartment had been smashed and that she was taken from the apartment against her will. According to the call, which was taped, police had talked to Melson but couldn’t locate her.
