Comfort and Joy (A&E; Tuesday at 1 a.m.), an amiable 1984 Bill Forsyth Scottish comedy, stars Bill Paterson as a deejay already going through some difficult changes when he becomes ensnared by an underworld conflict involving ice cream vans.
The Letter (Cinemax Thursday at noon) is the handsome 1940 William Wyler version of the Somerset Maugham drama. Set in Malaysia, the film stars Bette Davis as a colonial housewife with a terrible secret.
