The article “Paranoids, Ghosts and the Disappeared” (by Paco Ignacio Taibo II, Sept. 18) correctly points out how the PRI can continue to dominate Mexican national life through bribe, coercion and other undemocratic means. The left--and the right--once again were robbed in the latest elections.
Denying Mexicans in the United States the right to vote in Mexican elections is a “legal venom,” to use Taibo’s term, designed to protect the PRI. However, we 13 million Mexican Americans, whether sixth generation or newly minted citizens, have our feet firmly planted in the United States, and it’s here that we should vote.
