Recalls Committee Wasted Tax Funds
If nothing else, the Fullerton Recalls Committee has taught Fullerton voters an important lesson--vigilance: You cannot take good government for granted. This committee, while claiming frugality in government, has wasted over $100,000 (a conservative estimate) for Fullerton taxpayers by winning a battle in the courts (under a law that is up for change in the coming elections) to force a special election whose effect will last only two weeks.
The incumbents they targeted offered to resign rather than run up a costly bill. No, the committee would not put the interests of Fullerton citizens over their own vendetta. This has not only confused many voters, it has given some people the opportunity to run for this office (and stay for only two weeks) for no other reason than to get their names known.
There is a lesson here to be learned by all citizens: We cannot lean back and take good government for granted. Vote, or our system can be manipulated by people of ill will!
