NOT EXACTLY THE RENAISSANCE

Daniel Farson in his review of “The Civilization of Europe in the Renaissance” makes the statement that he “knew of Suleiman’s invasion, which was bogged down, literally, at the gates of Vienna by a quagmire of mud due to torrential rain.”
I checked briefly but during the time period in the cited book, the Ottoman Empire never got beyond Hungary and Croatia. The sacks of coffee left behind at Vienna by Turkish troops occurred in 1683 when a Polish army led by their King Jan Sobieski routed the Turks and sent them packing to the Southern Balkans.
Anyhow, Farson seems a bit confused and needs to recheck his history.
