Victoria Herazo of Canyon Country won the USA Track & Field women’s one-hour walk championships in Cambridge, Mass., on Sunday, covering 12,440 meters (approximately 7 3/4 miles).

It was the third national one-hour title for Herazo, 35, who covered 12,346 meters in 1990 and 12,771 in ’91.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Thursday accepted an invitation to join the Big West Conference.

For Cal Poly, which plays in the four-team American West Conference along with Cal State Northridge, the move could take place as soon at 1996-97.

Boise State, Idaho and North Texas State also were invited and all but North Texas immediately accepted.
