Tustin High School is mourning the death of Steve Hume, a science teacher and avid outdoorsman.

Hume, 34, taught physics and biology at the school for the past four years until his sudden death last month. District officials said he died of natural causes.

Hume was known for encouraging students to be curious about the world around them.

In his memory, the Tustin Public Schools Foundation has created a scholarship fund. The money raised will be used for science studies and to purchase equipment for the school’s science lab.
