Lawsuit Settlement: Nearly two years after a big drywall workers’ strike in Southern California, six carpenters’ union groups involved in that labor dispute have agreed to make a “substantial payment” to settle a lawsuit filed by 11 San Diego contractors.
The suit, one of many traded by the unions and contractors, alleged various unfair labor practices against four carpenter locals and two of that union’s umbrella groups. The five-month drywall strike, centered in Orange County, resulted in a victory for the workers, who won a contract with more than 50 companies in Southern California. But not the 11 San Diego contractors.
The settlement was disclosed in a joint release by the union and contractors. Details were not released.
